Hello, here we are, ready to be involved in unusual details about who are the Arcane Roots and about their artistic path. We thank in advance the band for their interest and their kindness.

I dare (without possibility of failing!) to introduce your band as the most significant between the debuting ones in the last ten years. The first impression listening to your music is listening to something new beside than charming. And we all were waiting for something new.  I’m pretty curious to know what kind of feelings brought you to compose a song and in which moments of your life that happened.

There isn’t really a set formula of how we write songs. Whether it’s a melody, chords, a drum part, a bass part or even a mood that we want to evoke, it’s always different. An example being Off The Floor which started with the guitar part. During the time it was written there were a lot of changes happening in the world, brexit for instance, that all seemed to have negative connotations. The lyrics to Off The Floor show this negatively and our feelings towards this time.

What impressed me more is the mix between your pure hardcore rock ri and the other ones, that are much more melancholic and “classic”. What do you hope to make feel to your followers? Are there any universal messages you would love to communicate with your music or do you consider music as something more “private” and individual tool?

I think what people get from music is a very individual thing. What one person might gain or feel from our music is not necessarily what someone else might get from it. But if we can make anyone get an emotional reaction from our music, that’s a good thing. I don’t think there are really any wider messages we are trying to convey with our music but we are definitely open about the themes and subjects of what we do write.

What’s your opinion about contemporary reality for musicians? Do you believe that the sounds that generated rock music are still alive or are they getting overcome by anything dierent and more technological as for example the use of synths and electronical sounds? More generally, do you consider technology a precious tool in composing music or not? Which relationship do you have with it?

I think rock music is still alive and kicking. The mainstream success of Royal Blood for example, showing that rock music is still popular. But it’s important to be different too. Enter Shikari are a massive band that have a very individual sound incorporating electronic elements. We have tried to put our own spin on the electronic element and combining it with our music. Technology has changed the way music is written and recorded. For us it’s very important. Writing demos and songs at home made our recent record possible.

Do you consider dierent being a musician on your own comparing with being a part of a band? What do you consider the “added value” of being a member of a band? I mean from both artistic and human point of view.

Being part of a band is very different from being a singular musician. Being part of a band means that you have a wider input into the creative process. We each have different tastes in music so we have a larger pool of influences to choose from. It also means we get to share the positives and the negatives of being a working musician, which makes the process easier.

Please tell us next events and tour which you are involved in. We would be honored to keep following and listening to you anywhere.

So we complete our European tour on the 3rd of October then we begin the UK leg on the 5th till later that month. We do have some special ideas in the pipeline but can’t share those with you quit yet, so just watch this space!!
